“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:11 NASB
Love is always a choice. Sometimes we may “fall in love,” but it takes work to stay there. We may be “swept off our feet,” but the “sweeping” is only temporary; sooner or later, if love is to endure, one must plant one’s feet firmly on the ground. The decision to love another person for a lifetime is much more than the simple process of “falling in” or “being swept up.” It requires “reaching out,” “holding firm,” and “lifting up.” Love then becomes a decision to honor and care for the other person, come what may.
