“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
Who are your closest friends? Good friends are hard to come by in a world of superficial acquaintances and shallow relationships. "Hanging with the crowd" can give us a false sense of belonging, but often leaves us wounded and alone in times of trouble. Open, honest, supportive, and loving relationships don't happen without investment. Ask the Lord to lead you to close friends in His family. Minister to and serve those around you as you listen to their requests, faithfully upholding them in prayer. Trust God will give you a "stick-through-thick-and-thin-friend." Development of Christian friends is an investment of effort and time, they are friends with whom we can share with always. In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! I have found silence to be a powerful element in prayer. To learn to be alone with God even in the presence of others is something we Christians should try to do. There are innumerable times during the day when we can turn our thoughts, even for a moment, from business affairs and center them on God’s goodness, Christ’s love, our fellow man’s needs.
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
No matter how hard we try to perceive the awesomeness of God, he is still God and we are not. We must forever remember that the original, and still primary, sin was to try to become like God in terms of knowledge and understanding. We are to know God, but we can never fully know everything about him. We are to take on his character, but we cannot approach his majesty, righteousness, or holiness on our own. This is both exciting and frustrating. But, the promise remains that one day we will be like him and see him as he is (1 John 3:1-3) and know fully even as we are fully known (1 Corinthians 13:11-12). “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him.” Psalm 145:18
There is Someone who fully knows what lurks in our hearts. And knowing, He never laughs mockingly and fades away. He never shrugs and walks away. Instead, He understands completely and stays near. Our God alone knows. He sympathizes with our weaknesses and forgives all our transgressions. To Him there are no secret struggles or silent cries. He Hears; He sees; He stays near. Call Him, His is there! Amen! Today is the Day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Make a plan, if you haven't already, right now to keep a daily appointment with God. The enemy is going to tell you to set it aside, to do something else. He'll whisper, "You're far too involved with other things, far too busy." But every excuse he suggests is a lie.
If you're too busy to meet with the Lord then you are simply too busy! You must carve out the time to give thanks to God, give praise to God and acknowledge the Lord God’s presence in your life. Establish a plan before you go to bed tonight! In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
To confess is to do two things with our sin: recognize sin for what it is in God's eyes and to get rid of our secrets and be honest with another Christian. James' language is powerful. He mentions this confession doesn't just bring forgiveness. It also brings healing. In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! |
