Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.’ James 1:12
This beatitude comes from Jesus' brother. He had experienced it and taught it! James knew it was worth "hanging in" and "hanging on" when his faith was under attack. He affirmed God loves us and He has made incredible promises about what lies ahead for us. He knew that eventually our period of testing would be transformed into a time of great blessing. James wants us to know God longs to bless us with life! After all, that's why He sent Jesus. (John 10:10) In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! “Cease striving, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Nothing surprises God. What puzzles us is permitted by our Lord, for reasons we cannot grasp. It is put together in the counsel of His own will so that it fits perfectly into His plan for His glory and purposes. As His servant, we should respond, “I will not fear. Though I don’t understand it, I will not fear. I will not blame, I will not doubt, and I will not question.” ‘Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.’ Isaiah 1:17
"A man's got to take care of himself!" We do have to be responsible, but, part of being responsible, part of being blessed — at least as God sees it — is to care for others, to stick up for the disadvantaged, and to intervene when someone else is being exploited. After all, we are our "brother's and sister's keeper!" In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12
The Golden Rule — golden because it's genuine, lasting, and valuable. Imagine how different our world would be if we practiced this principle — not just in our "church life" but in our daily life: with our family, with our coworkers and employer, with the people we manage, with the folks on the freeway and in the neighborhoods where we drive, and toward the waiters and waitresses and others who serve us. What a wonderfully different world it would be if the Golden Rule were to be practiced. I think I'll start changing my world with it today! How about you? In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! “Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.” Ephesians 4:29
The words we speak have the power to do great good or great harm. If we speak words of encouragement and hope, we can lift others up. That’s what God commands us to do. Sometimes when we feel secure and uplifted we find it easy to speak kind words to others. Sometimes when we are discouraged or tired, we can hardly summon the energy to uplift ourselves, much less anyone else. God intends that we speak words of kindness and wisdom and trust, no matter our circumstances, no matter our emotions. When we do, we share a priceless gift with the world and we give glory to the One who gave His life for us. Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:16-17
Do you find it easy to replace service to those in need with religious rituals? I know I do! Dear Hearts, God wants us to not get so caught up in talking about Him and celebrating His deeds, that we forget we're suppose to care for others like He does. Whether it is Jesus defining His ministry in Luke 4:18-19 or James talking about the kind of piety which pleases God (Jas. 1:26-27), we must realize true faith is treating others as God would. God does and instructs us to live in the same way. In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! [Jesus said,] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
At the end of the year, it’s nice to be invited to rest in Jesus. Before we begin a new year, let's pause and place our hopes, our future, our dreams, and especially our burdens down at His feet and let God give us rest. In His Love, Do All You Can, While You Can, As Long As You Can, To All You Can….Have a Beautifully Blessed Day! “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.” Psalm 92:1-2
Each day has 1,440 minutes—hopefully you value your relationship with God enough to spend a few of those minutes with Him. He deserves that much of your time and more. But if you find that you’re simply “too busy” for a daily chat with your Father in heaven, it’s time to take a long, hard look at your priorities and your values. As you consider your plans for the day and year ahead, here’s a suggestion: organize your life around this simple principle of “God first.” When you place Him where He belongs, at the very center of your day and your life, the rest of your priorities will fall into place. “The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
God uses Scripture as a sharp sword to cut to the core and show adjustments you need to make so that nothing hinders you from a love relationship with Him. He may do this through one Bible verse which convicts you of the working of the Holy Spirit. If so, listen as He speaks and make the changes He calls for. Blessings to You on Today! |
